A former award-winning war photographer and Emmy-award winning TV news producer, novelist Deborah Copaken is the author of four books: the New York Times bestselling The Red Book, long-listed for the U.K.’s prestigious Women’s Prize for Fiction; the Elle Readers Prize-winning Between Here and April, Shutterbabe, the bestselling memoir of her years as a photojournalist; and Hell is Other Parents, a collection of humorous essays which she also adapted for the New York stage. Her books have been translated into numerous languages, and her photographs have been exhibited and featured in publications worldwide, including Time, Newsweek, The New York Times, Paris Match and Géo. A former columnist for the Financial Times, her writing has also appeared in the pages of The New Yorker, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, More, O, and Slate, among many others. She has performed live storytelling on stage with The Moth, Afterbirth, and Smith Magazine’s Six Word Memoir series. She is also a screenwriter, currently adapting Shutterbabe as a TV series for Participant Media’s Pivot TV.
